True Colors
Theatre Company
Kenny
Leon’s True Colors Theatre Company’s mission is to create a moveable
feast of theatre grounded in the rich canon of African-American
classics and branching out to include bold interpretations of world
drama and a strong commitment to diverse new voices. Within each
season our various productions honor our core values of boldness,
laughter, abundance and respect – and celebrate life by exploring
and understanding our differences and our commonality. In all of our
work we promise to seek truth and clarity. True Colors Theatre
Company was co-founded by Kenny Leon in 2002 after an unprecedented,
11-year tenure as Artistic Director of the Alliance Theatre Company.
Mr. Leon's directorial credits span an incomparable range of work,
from classic theatre, to drama, to comedy, to musicals, to films, to
include the upcoming Broadway play, Katour Hall’s The Mountaintop
and will direct the feature film ’Babylon’ next spring.
The Golf and Gala entitled Greens In the Day, Blues In the Night is
held each year to raise funds to support youth educational programs
at True Colors. Greens in the Day will be held at Bear’s Best
Atlanta where patrons and celebrity guests participate in a lively
golf tournament. Each year Samuel L. Jackson and Kenny Leon are in
hot competition for the “Kenny Cup”. In the evening during Blues In
the Night, our celebrities, golfers, and guests gather at a private
residence for a festive evening including a delicious buffet,
cocktails, a live auction and blues entertainment.

The proceeds from this annual fundraiser help True Colors continue to
build programs for young people in our community. Our mentoring
program provides a once-in-a-lifetime experience for students as
they are mentored and coached by the True Colors’ team and community
partners. In addition, True Colors has developed the August Wilson
Monologue Competition for high school students in an effort to
incorporate the work of this Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright into
the Metro Atlanta school curriculum. Our Atlanta winners compete in
New York at the August Wilson Theatre with winners from Pittsburgh,
New York, Chicago, Seattle, and Boston for scholarship checks.
We thank you for your participation in Kenny Leon’s True Colors
Theatre Company’s 7th Annual Greens In the Day, Blues In the Night
Golf Tournament and Gala. We appreciate your support as we continue
to grow these fantastic programs.
